This nineteenth-century carriage robe was embroidered in a gloriously Victorian style by a New Englander, perhaps fr her parson. The basic robe is worked in afghan/tunisian crochet - a separate section for the center, eight sections for the border. Each section is embroidered in cross-stitch, then joined for the 58" x 71" afghan. If you prefer, substitute another dog's head for the religious symbol and put a new date in the corner.
